About Me

I've lived in Central Vermont (Barre and Williamstown)  for 30+ years but grew up in Rutland. I've also lived in Putney, St. Johnsbury and Newport, so I know many  parts of Vermont.

I have worked as a newspaper reporter, teacher, education consultant, in human services and most recently as an Internet communications specialist (Web master) with the Vermont Department of Tourism.

I'm an avid motorcyclist and would rather be riding my Goldwing through this beautiful state.

People have asked me why I'm running. It started when I used to ask my representatives what they had done about a particular bill. "I voted against it." was the reply. But what did you do to change it, I'd ask. "I voted against it," would come the reply. I wanted more than that.

It's not just about voting yes or no when you get to Montpelier. It's about having input. I decided that if I wanted someone who would work to change things I guess I had better be the one. So I'm running.

Do I have all the answers, people ask, - not by a long shot. But I'm not afraid to put my two cents in. I'm also not afraid to take the unpopular position

I'm also running to be sure people in my district are heard on issues. I once asked to testify on a bill but was never invited to do so. I found out that various organizations had brought people to Montpelier to testify. I'll work to be sure that anyone from my district who wants to testify will get to do so.

Here's something you should know about my approach to government. First, I don't think government should interfere with individual liberty. Second, government's first duty is to provide law and order. Third, government's role is to level the playing field so that everyone has a chance at the American dream - not just the privileged few. That third role must always refer back to the first two.
